Our mission is to create a domain that caters to young counseling professionals and psychology undergraduates which offers a user-friendly one-stop-shop of helpful information. As graduates of this field, we have experienced pitfalls, frustrations and dead ends when in search for further guidance. Just Like Me was developed to assist fellow students and professionals while commencing their careers. Our goal is to be as REAL and honest as possible while also being a cathartic safe haven where you can freely voice your opinions, suggestions, and concerns.

I love the site!!! I am so used to having folders full of information that gets overwhelming to go through. This site allows you to navigate to different areas so you can find what you are looking for easily and efficiently!

I downloaded the blackberry app for the GRE words that you suggested…..its awesome! I love it….it comes with all the words from the GRE and it has different features like flashcard mode or test mode so i can learn or test myself ….its great that I can learn words whenever and wherever because of the app! thanks ,great suggestion

I am a current school counselor-MA/LPC (14 years) who is burned out and I am trying to find a way to work with athletes outside of the school setting. I am also a former college football player as well. I would appreciate any help or suggestions that you might have. I no it’s time to move on and help those who are more willing to make changes. Hi Jim,

Thanks for visiting the site! It sounds like you would be a great sports counselor and/or sport psychologist! If I were you, I would explore the differences between sport psychology and sport counseling as well as its similarities. If you see you would like to take the sport psychology route, you can pursue a Doctorate in Sport Psychology or a MA. There are great programs out there offering this. Also, as you know, there is a post graduate certificate for Sports Counseling offered by California University of Pennsylvania. The good news is that your 14 years of experience puts you ahead of the game in this field and for this population, so you probably already have some great contacts and connections. It would be difficult to focus solely on just athletes as clients, but with time, you will build clientele. If you want a better idea of the field of sport psychology, check out APA 47 on apa.org and check out these two well-known psychologists’ websites: drjimtaylor.com and http://www.johnfmurray.com/.
